John Martin Tilley

Reidsville – John Martin Tilley, Jr., 85, of 879 Wolf Island Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Avante of Reidsville.Funeral services with will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Dyer officiating. Interment with a short service will follow in Highland Burial Park in Danville, Va. Pallbearers are John Farlow, Richard Farlow, Gregg Tuttle, Robbie Bolden, Steven Tuttle, Donnie Pridd and Keith Bolden.John was born in Danville, VA to the late John Martin Tilley, Sr. and Mamie Wall Tilley. He retired from Lorillard of Danville, VA after 42 years of service and Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home after approximately 50 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, trips to the beach and shopping for bargains at the grocery store and was a member of Red Man Assoc. and Lorillard Retirees. Along with his parents John was preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy Milam Tilley.He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Lucille B. Tilley; daughter, Patricia T. Farlow and husband, Steve of Keeling, VA; step-daughters, Janice Deal and husband, Lenny, Kay Alverson and husband, Houston, Bonnie Thacker and husband, Randy, Sheila Gwynn, Renee’ Toney and husband, Craig all of Reidsville; grandchildren, John C. Farlow and wife, Misty, and Richard M. Farlow; 13 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren; brother, William J. Tilley of Danville and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a loving family man that adored all of his family very deeply.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:30-8:30PM Tuesday, July 21, 2009 and at other time at the home, 879 Wolf Island Road.Contributions may be made to Mayfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 8936 NC Hwy 700, Ruffin, NC 27326.
