John Thomas Tucker

John Thomas Tucker, 86, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Avante at Reidsville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Duane King officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Tucker was born in Pittsylvania County to the late George Washington Tucker and Cilla Williams Tucker. He was a retiree of Knight Construction and a member of Piedmont Baptist Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Loftis Tucker, second wife, Bonnie Gregory Tucker; son, Alvis Lee Tucker; grandchildren, Scotty Tucker and Heather Evans; step granddaughter, Shelia Somers and sisters, Marsha and Mary. Survivors include his children, Thomas Ray Tucker and wife, Patricia, Phyllis Delaine Smith and husband, Jerry, Judy Diane Lester and husband, Dewey, Michelle Jimeniz and husband, Poncho, John D. Tucker and wife, Shawn; daughter-in-law, Wanda Gail Tucker; step daughter, Kathy Loredo; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Rainey, Herbert and Wayne; sisters, Sarah, Jean, Marie, Irene and Teresa. The family will see friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM and other times at Judy’s home at 1009 Rosemont Drive. The family would like to express a special thank you to Avante and the staff for the love and care given to Papa Tucker.
