Brown Summit–Joseph Brooks Cobb, 82, of 6511 Lismore Drive, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, November 19, 2012.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Osceola Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Cobb was born in Rockingham County on June 23, 1930. He served in the United States Army. Brooks was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Osceola Baptist Church serving as a deacon for several years and was faithful to witness to other people. He surrounded himself with lots of friends and he never met a stranger. Brooks enjoyed fellowshipping and telling stories to his grandchildren but most of all he loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include wife of 50 years, Geraldine Key Cobb of the home; daughter, Penni Cobb Houser and husband, Jeff of Brown Summit; grandchildren, Ethan Brooks Houser and Erin Katherine Houser both of Brown Summit; brother, Robert Edward Cobb of Reidsville; sister, Ethel Shreeve of Reidsville and a large extended family.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 6-8 PM and other times at the home.
