Joseph Valentine Merchak Jr.

Joseph Valentine Merchak Jr., 85, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 21, 2022.

A funeral mass will be held at Holy Infant Catholic Church, Thursday February 24^th, 2022, at 10 AM with Father Marcellus officiating. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Wednesday, February 23^rd, 2022, from 6-8 PM and other times at the home.

Joseph was born in Morristown, New Jersey to the late Joseph Valentine Merchak Sr. and Mary Rak Merchak. He attended Bailey Ellard High School in Madison, New Jersey. After High school, he joined the National Guard where he served for 9 years. Joseph retired with over 30 years of service from Superior Carriers in Kenvil, NJ. Joe was the treasurer of the 6970 branch of the Knights of Columbus for many years and also enjoyed building model ships, trains and airplanes. He was a loving grandfather who shared his passion for trains with his grandchildren. More than anything he loved his family.

Along with his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Merchak.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Merchak; children, Joseph Vincent Merchak, Ann Marie Merchak Mura and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Eric Mura, Brian Mura, Devin Merchak, and Nicholas Merchak; brother, Bernie Merchak as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Infant Catholic Church at 1042 Freeway Drive, Reidsville NC 27320.
