Joseph Michael Hedgecock, 17, passed away tragically and unexpectedly on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
Joe was a senior at Rockingham County High School, where he counted many of his classmates as close and dear friends and was a proud and dedicated member of the Rockingham County Fire Academy. Joe was often found working on his pickup truck and was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed camping, fishing, and four-wheeling with his friends and family.
Joe is survived by his loving parents, Mike and Christy Hedgecock; his little brother, Weston Hedgecock, whom he adored; maternal grandparents, Ann Chilton and husband, Allen and Larry Mashburn all of Thomasville; paternal grandparents, Jim and Elizabeth Hedgecock of Colfax; along with a large extended family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Covington Wesleyan Church, 3218 Vance Street Ext., Reidsville. The Rockingham County High School Public Safety Academy will be serving as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will welcome friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary. Those who knew Joe appreciated that he was always ready to roll up his sleeves and cheerfully lend a hand. In honor of Joe’s working spirit, the family requests that casual attire be worn at his memorial service.
The Hedgecock family would like to sincerely thank the members of the Bethany Fire Department and the Kernersville Fire Department for their support and work during this tragic event.
