Joyner Dee Washburn

Joyner Dee Washburn, 76, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Am on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd McDonald, Rev. Ryan Murphy and Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. The family will be available one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Madison. We ask that you wear a mask and remember to practice social distancing while attending the service.

Joyner was born in Rockingham County to the late Dewey Joyner Washburn and Margaret Gentry Washburn Kistner and graduated from Madison Mayodan High School, class of ’62. He was a retiree of Purr-fect Stitches and also worked at Macfield for 25 years. It’s been said, “If you ever met Joyner , you never forgot him.” He was a member of Greenville First Wesleyan Church and attended Covington Wesleyan Church in Reidsville. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Jo Washburn LaFoye.

Joyner is survived by his wife, of 33 years, Donna Puckett Washburn; sons, John Washburn and wife, Lisa and Les Harold and wife, Annika; grandchildren, Claire and Mattie Washburn and Ainsley and Wylder Harold; mother-in-law, Margie Puckett; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and June Puckett; nieces, Bernardine Previtte and husband, Mike and Sandra LaFoye Charles; nephew, Dennis Puckett and wife, Kristin; great niece, Kenzie Puckett and great nephews, Chris Previtte and Dylan Puckett.
