Rockingham County – Julius Stephen Wells, Jr., 91, of Countryside Manor and formerly of Abbotswood Retirement Community, died on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Moses Cone Memorial HospitalGraveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Greenview Cemetery with Dr. Charles Hutchins officiating. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the graveside service. Julius was born in Rockingham County to the late Julius Stephen Wells, Sr. and Myrtle Warren Wells. He was a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA with a degree in Political Science and was a retired from the Passport Division with the US State Department. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and a WWII veteran serving in the 10th Army Air Force in the Indo-China Theatre. He was a beloved Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather and an avid golfer and loved basketball and baseball . In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen W. Wells; sisters, Frances Wells of Atlanta, GA and Mary Scurry of Reidsville, NC. He is survived by his son, J. Stephen Wells, III; grandchildren, Julie Carolyn Wells, J. Stephen Wells, IV, Joseph Lesley Wells, all of Greensboro; great grandchild, McKenna Lindsey Wells.
