Katie Hutchens Tate

Mrs. Katie Hutchens Tate, 98, of Reidsville, passed away on Friday, January 5th, 2018. Funeral services will be held at two o’clock on Monday, January 8th, 2018 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Elder Jesse Hutchens and Elder Laray Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Danview Cemetery in Eden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Tate was born in Patrick County, Virginia on November 22nd, 1919, to the late Posey and Nellie Stowe Hutchens. She was a member of Goodwill Primitive Baptist Church and loved her church family immensely. Katie enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and she loved sharing it with her friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-years, Henry Anderson Tate and one son, Jimmy Anderson Tate. She is survived by her daughter, Pauline and husband, Bain Harbour of Ruffin; her son, Charles and wife, Nancy Tate of Reidsville; one brother and two sisters; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
