Reidsville – Kay Lavonne Ore, 65, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Covington Memorial Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Ore was a native of Rockingham County and born to the late Billy Diamond Alverson and Virginia Lee Lester Alverson. She was an amazing nurse for 36 years. She was full of life and never met a stranger. Everyone loved her because of her caring and compassionate nature and how she placed others before herself. She was a truly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite events included traveling with Woody to wherever they ended up. She loved her grandchildren and all of their extra activities. She would rather talk than eat. She was truly an angel here on earth to all.
Kay is survived by her husband, James Ore; sons: Jimmy Ore and wife, Debbie, Lynwood Ore and wife, Mandy, Todd Ore and wife, Tonya all of Reidsville, Dinky Robertson and wife, Alicia of Stoneville; daughters: Tina Hanks and husband, Barry of Reidsville, Tonya Wyrick and husband, Carl of Gibsonville, Kelly Pruitt and husband, Lee of Eden, Kristen Brim and husband, Kevin of Mayodan; 22 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Keith Alverson; sisters: Billie Whitt and Scarlette Barefoot; and her stepmother who raised her, Elizabeth Alverson.
The family invites friends and family to her visitation to be held at Covington Memorial Wesleyan Church on Tuesday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the "Kay Ore Scholarship Fund" for a nursing student each year at Rockingham Community College. A special account has been established at the State Employees Credit Union under Kelly Pruitt at 1601 Freeway Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320.
