Kaye Frye Hatcher, 62, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 21, at home surrounded by her family. It was her last wish to be with those whom she loved deeply as her battle with liver failure came to an end.
The family has chosen to honor Kaye with a visitation at Wilkerson Funeral Home at 1909 Richardson Drive, Reidsville, on Tuesday, December 28, between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, at the Lakeview Mausoleum in Greensboro at 2:00 pm.
Kaye was born on March 12, 1959, to the late Bill and Ruth Frye and moved into their first home on Summit Avenue. Kaye enjoyed a happy childhood and will be remembered for her singing with her sister, Tammy, in the car, at church, and in their shared bedroom singing into an old vacuum cleaner hose. Her favorite songs ranged from gospel standards to Jackson Five and the girls glowed with joy singing at the top of their lungs.
Kaye graduated from Northeast Guilford and began her professional career in retail then transitioning to a banking career. However, Kaye’s dreams became real as she turned her focus on building a home with her husband, Terry Hatcher, and her children, Brittany and Katelyn.
Her daughters would become the apple of her eye for the rest of her life and was enhanced by the addition of her grandson, Peyton. She extended her family by adding multiple loyal dogs, whom she loved dearly.
Kaye loved flowers and gardens especially daffodils and often commented on hydrangeas and roses that reminded her of those in her grandparents’ yards. Kaye also loved her church, the former Camp Herman Baptist of which she was a faithful lifelong member.
Kaye was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her infant grandson, William Wilson.
Those left to cherish Kaye’s memories are her husband of 29 years, Terry Hatcher; daughter Brittany Hatcher (husband, Tyler) and daughter, Katelyn Hatcher (wife, Makayla); grandson, Peyton Hatcher. Also surviving Kaye are her brother, Barry Frye (Kathy) and her sister, Tammy Rierson (Tom) in addition, to numerous beloved nephews and nieces.
