Ashley Loop Road, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009
at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00
PM Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church and the
interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Mr. Blankenship was born in Rockingham County to the late Cecil Norman and
Syble Allison Blankenship. He was a veteran serving the US Navy for four years stationed
aboard the USS Saratoga. He was employed with Transcontinental Gas Pipeline
Corporation as an automation technician. He was a longtime and faithful member
of Bethlehem United Methodist
Church where he was a
former Sunday school teacher and was the former editor of the Bethlehem Church
Newsletter. He was recognized as the Western
North Carolina United
Methodist Church
“Layman of the Year”. Kenneth was a former 4-H leader and was recognized as
“Leader of the Year”. He assisted with many Boy Scout troop activities. He was
a member of the Reidsville Elks Lodge and helped with the newsletter for many
years. He was also a charter member of the Rockingham County Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille
Dickerson Blankenship of the home; son Roy Blankenship and wife, Crystal of Wentworth;
grandchildren, Lane and Wesley Blankenship; extended family and many special
friends.
The family will receive friends
at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 7:00 -9:00 PM and other
times at the residence.
