Kenneth "Ken" R. Brown
Brown Summit: Kenneth “Ken” R. Brown, 67, of 5992 Poley Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 21, 2013 at the University of North Carolina Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Shaw and Rev. Mike Mitchener officiating. The burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Greensboro.
Ken was born in Guilford County to the late, Vance and Dora Bettini Brown. He served in the National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Guilford College and later finished his Master’s degree in Public Administration from UNCG0. He retired from full-time work with the City of Greensboro with over 30 years of service and continued part-time in their Wellness Division. He was also the owner and operator of Brown Health & Safety. His passion was his family, especially his grandchildren. Ken was a long-time and faithful member of Osceola Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, the AWANA Commander from the beginning of the ministry and Sunday school teacher for many years. He loved mission trips and had hopes of serving on a trip coming up this summer. He loved airplanes and was an avid sportsman, especially deer hunting.
Ken is survived by his wife, Brenda Brooks Brown of the home; his sons, Chad Brown and wife, Brittany of Elon and Kevin Brown and wife, Kim of Brown Summit; grandchildren, Brooks, Kaylie, Haven, Khloe and Eden Brown; sister, Jannette Apple and husband, Harold of Gibsonville and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 23 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at his home.
