Kenneth Elwood Ellington

Kenneth “PeeWee” Elwood Ellington, 80, went home to be with the Lord on January 30, 2020 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Lineberry officiating. The family will receive friends, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and other times at the home of his son Elwood Ellington. Kenneth was born to the late Paul Elwood Ellington and Mary Addie Tate Ellington in Rockingham County. He retired from Unifi after 20 years of service. PeeWee was a charter member of the Oregon Hill Fire Department and a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. He loved sports; baseball and racing were his favorite to watch. He enjoyed sharing the bounty of his garden, going to his grandson’s ballgames and heading to the races on Friday nights with his friends, Tommy Poindexter and Ed Travis. Most of all, he loved his family. He will be greatly missed. Along with his parents, He is preceded in death by his son, Paul Lewis Ellington and his brother, Eugene Ellington. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annie Hall Ellington; son, Elwood Ellington and wife, Tammy; grandson, Ethan Ellington; sister, Virginia Strader and h usband, Danny as well as a large extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Loan Repayment Fund at 361 Mt. Carmel Church Rd, Reidsville NC 27320.
