The family of Dillard M. Laws is deeply saddened at the death of Laura Collie Laws, of Reidsville, who died May 10, 2013 in Moses Cone Hospital.
Laura is survived by her wonderful and loving husband, Dillard Laws, her devoted partner in life for 63 years and their two children, Matt Laws and his wife, Regina; and Cynthia Cantrell and her husband, Walker. Laura has two grand children, Matthew Cantrell and Sarah Linville, and husband, Jeremy and two great grand children, Nehemiah and Naomi Linville.
Very proud of her Collie heritage, Laura was the oldest of eight children, the daughter of the late George Thomas Collie, Jr. and Hazel Pollard Perkins Collie. Born in Danville, Laura was retired with over 22 years of service with the Reidsville City Schools and decades of service to her church serving in the nursery, in Sunday school and the church choir. With a self-less compassion for people, she devoted herself to helping others, being a benefactor to the sick and a caregiver to the elderly.
Laura’s surviving sisters and brothers are George T. Collie, III and wife Brenda; Jennie C. Scott and Al Dickey; Lena C. Wall and husband, Don; Violet C. Gelinas; and Mike Collie and wife, Vikki. Two very dear sisters had preceded her in death, Georgie C. Simpson, and surviving husband Aubrey; and Mildred C. Bray, and surviving husband Wayne.
