Leola Chandler Jobe, 91, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2018, at the Rockingham County Hospice Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville with Elder David Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Born in Caswell County, Leola grew up in Burlington on her beloved Ruffin Street. She was the daughter of the late Atholl Wilkerson Chandler and Bettie (Sissy) Aldridge Chandler. Leola was a longtime and faithful member of Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church. As long as her health allowed, she spent many happy times attending Bush Arbor and its sister churches, going to Associations, and fellowshipping with her beloved brethren. Leola retired from the Alamance County Health Department after thirty years. Beginning her career as an Administrative Assistant, she later became one of the first female Public Health Inspectors in the state. Leola was always known for her helpful, kind and generous spirit.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Jobe; her sister, Gladys Chandler Black and husband, Clyde; her brother, Colen Chandler and wife, Janie; and step-daughter, Linda Jobe Payne.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan Chandler Jobe and wife, Julie; son-in-law, James Payne; Grandchildren, Jacob Jobe and wife, Morgan, Jeremiah Jobe, Beth Payne, Kate Payne; numerous nieces and nephews along with extended family.
The family would like to thank Leola’s friends and caregivers at Brookdale of Reidsville for their compassionate and loving care throughout the years.
The family will be receiving friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday evening July 1, 2018, from 6:00 till 8:00 PM.
