Leslie David "L.D." Orrell

Reidsville: Leslie David “L.D.” Orrell, 75, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with the Pastor Rodney Dalton officiating. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 P.M., at Dot Pennington’s farm, 193 Bernice Dr., Stokesdale. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00. L.D. was born on July 20, 1942, in Stokesdale, to the late Jesse Dow Orrell and Lillian James Orrell. He served in the U.S. Navy in 1961. Along with his parents, L.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Rafaela Orrell, and his honorary late Uncle and Aunt William and Bernice Tucker. L.D. is survived by his three children; son, David Orrell of Danville, VA, son Michael Orrell of Randleman, NC and daughter Mary Orrell of Orlando, FL; his granddaughters, Ashley Orrell of High Point, NC, Shanon Orrell of High Point, NC, Christina Orrell of Danville, VA; his grandsons, Jesse Bethke of Jacksonville, FL, Nicholas Twine of Cincinnati, Ohio, James Orrell of Randleman, NC, Christopher Orrell of Randleman, NC and honorary grandson Michael Marshall of Michigan; his nieces Janet Somers of Reidsville, Sheila Bullock of Reidsville, NC, and DeAnna Hay of Kernersville, NC; three sisters; Sue Lovings of Reidsville, NC, Bessie Cummings of Reidsville, NC and Judy Lawson of Kernersville, NC, and his honorary cousin Dorothy Pennington that has honored his wish of the Inurnment on their property that he so loved.
