Reidsville – Lewis Blayne Darnell, 70, of 120 Gibbs Trail died Monday, April 19, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Eden Baptist Church with Rev. Daryl Law officiating. Funeral services will also be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 22, 2010 at The Howze Mortuary in Traveler’s Rest, SC and the family will receive friends one prior to the service at the mortuary. The committal will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Traveler’s Rest, SC.Lewis was born in Hooper’s Creek, NC to the late Harrison Blayne and Matilda Israel Darnell. He was a mechanic with John D. Hollingsworth, Inc. A member of Eden Baptist Church, Lewis was very committed to his faith. Being one of fifteen children, he understood the meaning of family and always maintained the motto, family first. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Crumley Darnell and 8 brothers and sisters.Survivors include his wife, Rachel Gibbs Darnell of the home; his son, Rocky Blayne Darnell and wife, Penny of Stoneville; his daughter, Rebecca Monter and husband, Joe of Bellevue, NE; his grandchildren, Eric Darnell, Joshua Darnell, Alexander Wells, Danielle Schutt and Jonathan Monter; his great grandson, Zachary Schutt; brothers, Arnold Lee Darnell of Greenville, SC, Carrol Darnell and Junior Darnell both of Marietta, SC; sisters, Dolly Jane Hess and Patsy Coggins both of Traveler’s Rest and Mary Jo Gleaton of Marietta, SC; step children, Carolyn Snow, Louise Young and husband, Jerry, and Faye Atkins and husband, Brian; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 20 at Eden Baptist Church, from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.
