Avenue died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Lewis Dickerson, Jr. and Rev. Randy Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.Lewis was born in Rockingham County to the late Lewis James and Addie Deal Dickerson. He was a former employee of Unifi and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers, 1 sister and a grandchild.Survivors include his wife, Dare Dickerson of the home his sons, Lewis Dickerson, Jr. and Lewis James Dickerson and 2 grandchildren.The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 6:00-8:00PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
