Lewis Wayne Overby

Ruffin: Lewis Wayne Overby, 67, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 11, 2017, at Mayfield Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00, and other times at the home of his sisters, 1525 Perkinson Rd. Lewis was born on January 9, 1950, in Rockingham County, to the late Percy W. Overby and Lucille Evans Overby. He was a member of Mayfield Missionary Baptist Church and loved the Lord. He was a lifelong tobacco farmer. Lewis was a simple man with a kind heart and would help anyone who needed. Along with his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Diann Logan Overby, brothers, Roger and Fred Overby and sister, Ann Smith. Lewis is survived by his son, Bobby L. Overby and wife, Kay; grandchildren, Josh Overby, Kelsey Overby, Kasie Clinton and Alex Clinton; brother, Ricky Overby and wife, Lynn; sisters Gail Gibbs, Vicky Overby and Karen Johnson and husband James, and numerous nieces and nephews.
