Lewis Smith Stafford

Reidsville – Lewis Smith Stafford, 85, of 612 McCoy Road died Monday, June 14, 2010 at his residence.A graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Arnold Cook officiating.Mr. Stafford was born in Kernersville, NC to the late F.C. and Effie Mae Stafford. He was a veteran in the US Navy serving during both, WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Martin Marietta. He was a longtime and faithful member of Community Baptist Church where he served as an usher, a Sunday school teacher and a trustee for many years. Mr. Stafford was an avid gardener and a skilled woodworker. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Glynis Stafford and 7 brothers and sisters.Mr. Stafford is survived by his wife, Bobbie Faircloth Stafford of the home; his children, Randy Lewis Stafford of Asheboro and Susan Murray and husband, Bruce of Oak Island, NC; grandchildren, Traci Murray, Adam Stafford, Sarah Pike and husband, Brad and Nikki Stanger; great granddaughter, Addison Pike; brothers, Richard Stafford and wife, Molly of Greensboro and James Stafford and wife, Mary of Colfax; sisters, Grayce Tilly of Kernersville and Maxine Crutchfield of Greensboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends before the service from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM, Thursday, June 17 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.Memorial Contributions may be made to Community Baptist Church, 509 Wall Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
