Reidsville: Lillian Louise Ambrose Hackett, 99, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Hackett was born in Belhaven, N.C. to the late Victor C. Ambrose and Elizabeth Wade Ambrose. She was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School and continued on with her education at East Carolina Teachers College graduating in 1937 with a degree in Elementary Education. After moving to Reidsville in 1962 she taught 2nd grade at South End Elementary School until her retirement with 30 years service. She enjoyed her years of teaching and also loved to read and travel. She was a very sweet and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Hackett, Jr. and her twin sister, Josephine Jenkins of Murfreesboro, NC. Survivors include her daughter, Dru H. Smith of the home; son, Jan R. Hackett and wife, Diane of Reidsville; grandson, Del Smith and wife, Debbie of Concord; Kimberly Nichols and husband, Tony of Reidsville and grandson, Scott Hackett of Atlanta GA.; great grandchildren, Tori and Chelsea Nichols of Reidsville. The family wishes to sincerely thank Paula and Emma for their loving care for Lillian in her home. We also wish to thank Annie Penn Hospital and Hospice of Rockingham County.
