Lois Jean McAlister French

Reidsville: Lois Jean McAlister French, 81, of 1432 W. Harrison Street, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Morris Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Lois was born in Rockingham County to the late James Russell McAlister and Mattie Jane King McAlister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Julian French; sisters, Winifred Shreve and Hilda Brannock; brothers, Everette, Russell and Curtis McAlister. Lois was an underwriter with Harleysville Insurance in Greensboro for thirty years and retired in 1996. She was a former member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and was a present member at Woodmont United Methodist Church. She had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed sharing this gift with others. Lois enjoyed making and collecting stained glass and growing flowers with her husband, Robert. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; special nieces; Jane, Patricia and Jeanene; and also numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. The family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers that assisted Lois during her last years, Lynette, Melanie, Zoe, the Bayada Staff and Hospice of Rockingham County.
