Lorene Ellen Jones Hopper

Reidsville: Lorene Jones Hopper, 79, of 171 Chinqua Penn Trail died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Baptist Temple Church, 729 Wentworth Street, Reidsville, NC with Rev. George Fox, Rev. Doug Byrd and Rev. John Groff officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Frank Odell, Harry Lee Odell, Ronnie Barham, John Dancy, Robert Isley, Kenneth Bradsher, Nathan Rich and Barry Bunton.Mrs. Hopper was born in Rockingham County to the late William Robert and Josephine Moore Jones. She formerly worked for many years as a Commissioned Agent for Greyhound Lines East and retired from H&R Block Income Tax Service as a tax preparer. She was a member of Baptist Temple Church where she was very active in the Mountain Climbers until her health prevented participation earlier this year. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Richard Hopper; her sister, Elizabeth Brown; and her brothers, Harry, Luther, Herbert and Elmer Jones. She is survived by her children Carolyn McCloskey and husband, James of Reidsville, Charles Hopper and wife, Pattie of Mayodan, Shirley Hicks and husband, Maynard and Rick Hopper and wife, Tammy all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Lori Warner and husband, Tim, Jason Yount, Ronald Ferrell, Jr. and wife Amy, Christopher Hicks, Jennifer Hopper and Lindsey Hicks; great grandchildren, Jacob Warner, Zachary Warner, Daniel Yount and R. J. Ferrell; sisters, Carolyn Clute of Reidsville, Thelma Dameron and husband, Bueal of Jamestown and Dorothy Wyrick and husband, Dee of McLeansville; brother, Nathan Jones and wife, Evon of Cascade, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Betty Barham, Mildred Edwards and Irene Hopper all of Reidsville; special friend, Nellie Bray and numerous nieces and nephews.
