Louis was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Aaron Anderson Roberts, Sr. and Virginia Venable Green Roberts. He completed his high school education at Asheville Farm School (now Warren-Wilson College), and was a proud veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving in WWII. Louis spent most of his adult life in the Richmond, Virginia area where he was owner/operator of Roberts Auto Service. The lure of “buy and sell” kept Louis busy dabbling in real estate, pre-owned cars, and estate auctions. He also took great personal pleasure in flying airplanes, woodworking, golf, and growing prize tomatoes. Louis enjoyed taking his family on flying excursions and on trips to the North Carolina mountains. He was a member at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Reidsville, NC, and a charter member of the Chesterfield Flyers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Roberts and five sisters.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Johnston Roberts of Chesterfield, VA; daughter, Helen Gray Roberts Coats and husband, Dale of Durham; grandchildren, Bradley Coats and wife, Lea of Cary, NC, and Douglas Coats of Gainesville, FL; brother, Aaron Anderson Roberts, Jr. and wife, Mary Tait Roberts of Powhatan,VA.
Mr. Roberts’s family is indebted to the professional caregivers who kept him safe. We especially thank Carol Shelton for her devotion and high standards of care.
