Brown Summit– Loyd Irvin Chrismon, 88, of 5811 Chrismon Road, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at his home.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 27, 2009 at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church with Rev. Allen Myers and Rev. Tim Geiger officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.Loyd was born in Guilford County to the late Ira B. and Myrtle Wyrick Chrismon and lived his entire life in Guilford County. He was of the Christian faith and a member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. He served in the US Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, was a planning manager with Burlington Industries and a member of the Gideon’s North Camp for many years. Loyd loved being outside working in his vegetable garden and farming. He was a faithful husband for 67 years to the late Ruby Powell Chrismon and was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Jesse and Jake Chrismon; sister, Fleta Coltrane and newborn baby girl, Myra June Chrismon. He is survived by his son, Garrett Chrismon and wife, Carol; daughter, Sylvia Allison and husband, Stan, all of Brown Summit; grandchildren, Arlette Horner and husband, Dale, Kyle Chrismon and wife, Melanie; Melanie Puckett and husband, Michael; great grandchildren, Carson Chrismon, Mallory Chrismon, Jordan White and Taylor White; brothers, Harold “Pete” Chrismon, Golden Chrismon, Eugene Chrismon and Donnie Chrismon; sister, Thelma Whitesell and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no formal visitation but the family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. The family would like to announce that Loyd may be viewed one hour prior to the service.Memorials may be made to Apple’s Chapel Christian Church, Men’s Fellowship, 7345 Highway 61N, Gibsonville, NC 27249, Beacon Place-Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405, or Gideon’s International, North Camp, PO Box 14242, Greensboro, NC 27415.
