Reidsville: Lucille Carter Trent, 86, of 1826 S. Park Dr., passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Woodmont United Methodist Church and the burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery with Assistant Minister Sharon Quate and Rev. Mark Christy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.Mrs. Trent was born in Rockingham County and is a daughter of the late Luther and Jessie Rakestraw Carter. She retired from the Reidsville School System. She was a charter member of Woodmont United Methodist Church. She was a faithful servant and active participant of church activities. Mrs. Trent loved cooking, gardening and spoiling her family. She was the caregiver to many family members and friends. She also volunteered for Meals of Wheels for a number of years. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, of 66 years, Marvin Elmer Trent; sister, Frances M. Carter; brothers-in-law, Herman Sutliff and Walter F. Justice; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Trent Justice and Martha Carter.Survivors include her son, M. Wayne Trent and wife, Daphne of Apex, NC and Pawley’s Island, SC; daughters, Patricia Trent Hubbard and husband, Larry of Greensboro and Joan Trent Miles of Reidsville; grandchildren, David Wayne Trent of Apex, NC and Julia T. Cunningham and fiance’, Nicholas Noel of West Chester, OH; brother, James Carter and wife, Marjorie of Eden; sister, Sibyl Carter Sutliff of Eden; and sister-in-law, Sara Trent Angel and husband, Jack of Etowah, NC.Memorial Contributions may be made to Woodmont United Methodist Church, 1926 Richardson Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320.
