Lucy Wells Adkins

Reidsville – Lucy W. Adkins, 96, formerly of 3700 Iron Works Road, passed away on March 4, 2013 at Morehead Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Brown and Melba Ashley officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be DeWayne Smith, Brandon Smith, Randy Ashley, Greg Smith, Joshua Hale, Elan Ashley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Schoolfield, Bob Tillman and Wayne Hale. Mrs. Adkins was born in Henry County, VA to the late Charlie and Maggie Donovan Wells. She was a homemaker and a member of Sharon Baptist Church. She loved roses, NASCAR racing especially Jeff Gordon and was a faithful, trusting, loving neighbor. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Adkins and son, Albert Adkins. Survivors include her daughter, Marie Adkins Ashley; grandchildren, Tommy Ashley and wife, Melba, Darlene Ashley, Terry Ashley and wife, Tina, Roxanne Smith and husband, Todd and Bonnie Hale and husband, Wayne; seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 6-8 pm. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her grandson, Tommy Ashley, 3727 Iron Works Road.
