Madgel Bray Gammon

Ruffin - Madgel Bray Gammon, 91, of 1814 Worsham Mill Road, died on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Hill and Rev. Randy Staley officiating. The burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Gammon was a native of Axton, VA and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mary Jane Hall Bray. She was a faithful homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Being an optimist, she always saw the best in everyone. She attended Guerrant Springs Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Gammon; her sons, Ralph Gammon and Larry Gammon; her granddaughter, Donna Gammon; her brothers, Henry and Irvin Bray; and her sisters, Laura Kendrick, Martha Roberts and Maggie Green. Mrs. Gammon is survived by her sons, Lee Roy Gammon and wife, Francis of Eden, Ray Gammon of Ruffin and Wilbur Gammon and wife, Marsha of Ridgeway, VA; daughters, Elizabeth Wadell and husband, Jack of Hickory, NC, Ruby Gammon of the home and Carolyn Atkins and husband, Steve of Ruffin; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Nancy Gammon of Augusta, SC; numerous nieces and nephews and special caregiver, JoAnn. The family will receive friends Monday, August 2, at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 7:00 - 9:00 and other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
