Ruffin – Mamie Curry Grubbs, 77, of 260 Kennon Road, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, May 2, 2011 at Annie Penn Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Rock of Ages Baptist Church with Pastor Darin Bray, Pastor Doug Bray, Pastor Carlton Dunn, and Pastor Don Collins officiating. The burial will follow in Danview Cemetery.
Born in Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Richards Curry. Walking faithfully with her husband, she was the co-founder and a charter member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church and she served as the pianist for over 30 years. She was a selfless, sacrificial woman of faith and was the backbone of Pastor Cletus’ ministry. Along with her parents, Mrs. Grubbs was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Cletus Grubbs, infant son, Charles Ray Grubbs; sister, Frances Curry Bouldin; and brothers, James, Alfred, Allen and Melvin Curry.
Survivors include her sons, Eddie Grubbs and wife, Linnett of Reidsville and Gary Grubbs and fiance’, Terri Tuggle of Ruffin; grandchildren, Christy Bray and Snapper Grubbs; great grandchildren, Jacey Hensley, Jenna Hensley, Chelsea Grubbs and Kadance Grubbs; sister-in-law, Gracie Curry; brothers-in-law, William Douglas Bouldin and Ray Simms; several nieces and nephews and special niece, Rhonda Caudle.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 628 King Street, Reidsville, NC from 7-9 PM and other times at Gary’s home (260 Kennon Road, Ruffin).
