1504Reidsville: Mamie Strader Stone, 102, of 1761 Wolf Island Road, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, April 1, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Carroll, Rev. John Stein and Rev. Tripp Kimbrough officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Stone was born in Rockingham County to the late, Albert G. and Nannie Jean Strader Strader. She was retired from Sadler School and was also known as the Avon Lady. She was a lifetime and faithful member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Her caring and compassionate service to her community will leave an imprint on family and friends for years to come. She served as a Girl Scout leader, worked with Beverly Enterprises taking bananas to Maplewood Nursing home from 1994 – 2005, was named the Honorary Bear Den Member for Boy Scout Troop #781 and was named the Community Volunteer of the Year in 1990. She was also a Founding member of the yearly World Mission Conference. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Melvin Stone and her son-in-law, Dr. Joseph Passantino; brothers, Silas, Lindsey, Sam, Spencer, Preston, Womble, Wilbert, Roy and Albert Strader; sisters, Myrtle French, Jennie Gammon, Levenia Bowman, Thelma Phillips, and Lottie Hearp. She is survived her son, Wayne Stone and wife, Peggy; daughter, Anna Carlene Stone Passantino; grandchildren, Katherine Walters and husband, Butch, Stuart Passantino and wife, Jennifer, Sylvia Muller and husband, Scott, David Stone and wife, Adena, Rodney Councilman and wife ,Beth , Stacey Butcher and husband, Ryan; great grandchildren, Emma Jo Walters, Reagan Bellici Passantino, Braden Joseph Muller, Paige Anna Muller, Clay Councilman and Foster Butcher; sister, Mattie Bell Graves ; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and her wonderful caregivers, Kim, Carol Ann, Sharlene, Joy and Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 3 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mamie and Carl Stone World Mission Fund @ Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 361 Mt.
