Margaret Evans Barrett

Margaret Evans Barrett, 88, of the Oregon Hill Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

In accordance with her wishes, a private graveside service was held with her immediate family in attendance on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Reverend Ralph Clayton officiating.

Margaret was born on October 30, 1934, to the late George Earlie and Lillie Bailey Evans in Rockingham County and was a member of the graduating class of 1952 from Ruffin High School. A member of Covington Wesleyan Church, she especially appreciated the ladies in her Sunday School Class. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alvin H. Barrett.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Debbie Barrett Strader (Donnie) and Donna Barrett (Mr. E.C. Mabe); grandchildren, Jeremy Strader (Bethany), Haley Bray (Ron); great-grandchildren, Jacob Bray, Taylor Bray, Emmy Strader, Daniel Strader; brother, Earl Milton Evans in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
