Reidsville: Margaret Moye Lane, of 1003 Sherwood Drive, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Annie Penn Hospital.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville with Dr. Doug McLeroy officiating. A private burial will be at Reidlawn Cemetery before the memorial service.
A native of Greenville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Rountree Moye, II and Bruce Tucker Moye. Margaret attended the Greenville City Schools. She loved Girl Scouts, attended Girl Scout camp many summers and later worked as a counselor for two summers. She earned the Curved Bar, the highest Girl Scout honor.
Margaret graduated from East Carolina University (East Carolina College) in 1960 with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Later she attended UNCG and received further credentials as a reading specialist.
While at ECC, she met and married David Edgerton Lane, in 1960, and came to Reidsville to live.
She taught in the Reidsville City Schools from 1960 – 1990. During her teaching years and throughout her retirement she belonged to numerous teaching organizations and was an active volunteer. Margaret was a member of First Presbyterian Church and an active member of Circle 3, a sustaining member of Reidsville Junior Service League, and a past member of the Reidsville Women’s Club. She was an active member of Rockingham County Retired School Personnel and volunteered at Annie Penn Hospital for 18 years, as well.
Surviving is husband, David Edgerton Lane, Sr.; daughter, Suzanne Moye Lane Nix; son, David Edgerton Lane, II; granddaughters, Liesel Hannah Nix and Elaine Margaret Nix; a sister, Lillian Moye Bolen (Richard); and six nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Jesse Rountree Moye, III.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 1909 Richardson Drive, Reidsville, NC and other times at home.
