Marian Talley Pyrtle

Reidsville - Marian Talley Pyrtle, 74, of 122 Stone Street, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at her home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Boswell, Rev. Greg Robertson and Rev. Dave Huggins officiating. Interment will follow the service in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Pyrtle was born on February 9, 1938 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lillian Durham Talley. She retired from Dr. L.P. Crosby after 38 years of service. Marian was a longtime and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church who was a strong Christian and very active in the church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that loved her family very deeply especially her grandchildren. Marian was a longtime cancer survivor who fought a long, courageous battle. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Talley.She is survived by her beloved husband, Houston Pyrtle of 53 years; son, Gary Pyrtle and wife, Marcy; daughter, Laurie Pyrtle; grandchildren, Morgan, Bryan, and Cason all of Reidsville; brother, Dwight Talley of Winston Salem; sister, Lois Gammons, and husband, Ken of Reidsville. The family will be receiving friends Friday, August 10th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home.The family wishes to thank Dr. Neijstrom and his staff of the Annie Penn Cancer Clinic for the loving care they showed toward Marian during her lengthy illness.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Hospice Home of Rockingham County, P.O.
