Marilyn Brown Garland

Marilyn B. Garland, 70, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

A private memorial service will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Marilyn was born in Rockingham County to Rebecca H Brown and the late Jack Wyatt Brown Jr. She remained in Rockingham County, NC most of her life until retirement. She and her late husband Curt, moved to Mouth of Wilson, Virginia to enjoy the peacefulness of the mountains. Marilyn was a very smart and talented person. She was a registered nurse with Cone Health and UNC Rockingham for 32 years. She had a love for taking care of her patients. Marilyn loved watching cooking shows, traveling, collecting dolls and her two cats Murph and Sadie. Most of all she loved her family.

Along with her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lee Garland and brother, Jack W Brown IV.

She is survived by her children, Hannah Quintero (Daniel), Clem B Shelton III, Heather Cantrell (Eric); grandchildren, Brayden, Dakota, and Madalin; mother, Rebecca H. Brown; siblings, Betsy Adkins (Herman), Susan B. Archibald, and brother, Randy L. Brown; dear friend, Holly Burress as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
