Marilyn Massey Somers

Reidsville: Marilyn Massey Somers, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hester officiating. The family will see friends 1 hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery. Marilyn was born in Rockingham County to the late Ernest and Grace Barker Massey and was a retiree of Lorillard Tobacco Company. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Garden Club and Community Baptist Church choir where she was a member. She also was an avid golfer, enjoyed dancing and was “The Princess of Carolina House”. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey McKiver Somers; brothers, E. W. Massey and Billy Massey; sister-in-law, Evelyn Massey. Survivors include her son, Wayne Somers and wife, Darla (Angel); grandchildren, Claudia and Chris; great grandchildren, Ryan and Landon; brother, Robert Massey; sister, Katherine Griffith; sisters-in-law, Carrie Massey and Mildred Massey; aunt, Tommie Carter and many nieces and nephews.
