Marion Neal Meeks

Pelham: Marion N. Meeks, 84, of 168 Lovelace Rd., passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Hospice of Rockingham County. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Dan River Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thomas Solomon and Rev. Avery Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at the church and other times the family will be at the home. Marion was born in Rockingham County, on March 22, 1930, to the late Numa Meeks and Lelia Price Meeks. He was a faithful Christian and a member of Dan River Primitive Baptist Church. He worked as a security guard at Dan River Mills for over 20 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Along with his parents, Marion was preceded in death by children, Ronald and Mark Meeks and his siblings, Lynn Meeks, Roger Meeks, Gary Meeks, Donald Meeks, Cornelia Meeks, Martha Foster and Gloria Bray. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Madelean Meeks of the home; his son, Joe Meeks and wife Ginger of Ringgold, VA; his daughter, Carolyn Meeks of Pelham; his daughters-in-law, Sylvia Meeks of Madison and Sandra Meeks of Pelham; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his brothers, Raymond Meeks of Newport News, VA and Charles Meeks of Eden; his sister, Nellie Strader of Pelham and numerous nieces and nephews.
