Martha Miller Bowman

Martha Miller Bowman, 84, of Reidsville, took her heavenly journey on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the Rockingham County Gibson Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Warner officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 21^st from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and other times at the home.

Martha was born in Rockingham County to the late Dave and Florence Witty Miller.  She had a very strong faith in God and was an active member at Freedom Baptist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother, stepmother, and grandmother. Martha, affectionally known as “Nannie” adored her family and spending time with them, especially for family gatherings.  She was a great cook and was especially known for her banana pudding. Martha loved dressing up, makeup, jewelry, perfume, going out to eat, family games, vacations, sweets and eating!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Keith Dwayne Smith; daughter, Wanda Smith Moricle; grandsons, Michael and Matt Smith; step granddaughter, Anna Moore; step grandson, Ethan Hopkins; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin E. Bowman of the home; son, Ernie Smith (Karen); daughter, Peggy Doman (John); stepson, Steve Bowman (Lisa); step daughters, Lisa B. Moore (Mark), Cynthia B. Bender (Jeff); 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Joanne Southard; son-in-law, Wendy Moricle (Sarah); sister-in-law, Inez Miller; numerous nieces and nephews and special niece, Shelia Daniels.
