Martha Jo Hopkins Clifton

Reidsville: Martha Jo Hopkins Clifton, 72, died on Saturday, November 29, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Main Street United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Clifton was the daughter of the late Lois and John Hopkins. Surviving are husband, Billy Franklin Clifton of Reidsville; daughter, Kimberly Clifton Gottwald of Richmond; and son Stephen Franklin Clifton and wife Amy Street Clifton of Richmond. Also surviving are two sisters Jane Hopkins Wagoner of Reidsville and Nancy Hopkins Stikeleather of Atlanta; 9 grandchildren: Nancy Spencer Gottwald, Caroline Clifton Gottwald, Bruce Cobb Gottwald, III, William Hays Gottwald, Kimberly Cavell Gottwald, Martha Elizabeth Gottwald, Jack Hamilton Clifton, William Harrison Clifton and Hunter Elizabeth Clifton. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Monday, December 1st from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Martha Jo Clifton Schlorship Fund at Rockingham Community College, P.O. Box 38, Wentworth, NC 27375.
