Reidsville –Marvin Melvin Clifton, 81, of 241 Fogwood Drive, passed away on December 4, 2014 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Burton Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Edwards and Rev. Ronnie Warner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors preformed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard. Marvin was born in Rockingham County to the late Ernest Taft and Lelia Elsie Kennon Clifton. He was a retiree of The American Tobacco Company a painter and was also a veteran of the US Army. As a member of Burton Memorial Baptist Church he was a devout Christian and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Elaine Kallam. Survivors include his wife 62 years, Melva Talley Clifton; children, Sharon Brown, Gary Clifton and wife, Lyzell, Kathy Lovelace and husband, Gary, Jackie Clifton and wife, Sharon and Penny Clifton; grandchildren, Shannon Templeton and husband, Mike, Courtney Lovelace, Ginger Walker, Scott Brown and wife, Dorena, Dean Brown and wife, Robin, Crystal Kinton, Tennille Branch and husband, Ronald, Jennifer Brown, Justin Clifton, Brittany Clifton, James Clifton, Lorraine Clifton, Lenora Eddings and Leah Lovelace; numerous great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; brothers, Wayne, Jack and Leon Clifton; sisters, Vivian Thompson and Linda Page. The family will see friends on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
