Mr. Marvin Reid Kendrick, Jr., 64, of Reidsville passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer on Monday, April 8, 2013.
Reid was born in Rockingham County on October 8, 1948 to the late Marvin Reid Kendrick, Sr. and Laura Wilson Kendrick. Reid was a Sunday School teacher and member of Canaanland Baptist Church in Reidsville. He was a retired truck driver with thirty five years of service and was honored with "Driver of the Year" and "Safest Driver of The Year" among many other awards during his career. Reid was also a local gospel singer/songwriter and found great joy playing his guitar and singing wherever the Lord lead him to sing. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and spending time with his wonderful neighbors, family and friends of the community. He had a generous spirit toward those in need.
Survivors include his wife, Linda K. Kendrick of the home; one son, Pastor Michael Kendrick Storm and wife Seme Storm of Kernersville; one daughter, Angela Staley of Summerfield; grandchildren, Heather Staley and Aaron Staley; two sisters, Virginia Kendrick Rogers of Greensboro and Anita Kendrick Staton of Summerfield, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Stokesdale Baptist Church, 8409 Stokesdale Street, Stokesdale, North Carolina, 27357. Pastor Carl Brown, Pastor Rubin Campbell and Pastor Sherman Duncan will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from six until eight on Wednesday evening in Wilkerson Funeral Home.
