Mary Leona Freeman Hanks, 83, of 9448 US Hwy 158 West, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Rockingham County Hospice Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 31, 2018 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Pearman officiating. The entombment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Darrell’s home (790 Cunningham Mill Road) during the weekend.
Mrs. Hanks was born in Rockingham County to the late, Stanley and Mary Richardson Freeman. She retired from Sears & Roebuck with over 40 years of service. She was a committed woman of faith and enjoyed singing and playing her guitar. Mrs. Hanks performed at churches all over the area and was always singing at home. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, William, O’Dell, James, Wayne and Bobby Freeman; her sister, Esther Dalton and her granddaughter, Ronda Isley.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Clinton Hanks of the home; her children, Carlton Robert Isley, Jr., Ronnie Lee Isley and wife, LouAnn, Darrell Jerome Isley and wife, Terry and Tammy Edwards; her step children, Elizabeth Hanks, Roy Hanks, Penny Hanks and Will Hanks all of Reidsville; her 19 grandchildren; her 29 great grandchildren; her brothers, Ralph Freeman and wife, Mary Jane, Fred Freeman, Tex Freeman and Thomas Freeman; and a large extended family.
