Mary Louise Howerton Alcorn

Mary Louise Howerton Alcorn, 98, of 122 Alcorn Loop, Ruffin went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Ruffin Cemetery with Pastor Joey Bray officiating. Louise was born in Bowling Green, VA and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Zirkle Howerton. She was a faithful, diligent mother, homemaker, and provider and she especially enjoyed spending time in the mountains visiting old grist mills. She attended The Tabernacle of Danville, VA. Along with her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband Numa Harold Alcorn; daughter Virginia Alice Alcorn Barrett; and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children Mary Ann Lee and husband Gerald, Harold Bruce Alcorn and wife Kathy, Gary Steven Alcorn and wife Debbie, David Marion Alcorn, Allen Zirkle Alcorn and wife Amanda, and Berkley McCall Alcorn and wife Aly; 9 grandchildren (including, Shane Steven Alcorn that she raised like a son) and 7 great grandchildren; sister, Mabel Winifred Howerton-Salyards; and a large extended family.
