Pembroke Pines, FL: Mary Lucille "Lou" Tutterow, 82, went home to be with her Messiah on Thursday, October 5, 2017.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at eleven o'clock on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Pleasant View Assembly of God Church with Pastor Gary Loftis officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from six until eight o' clock at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Lou was born September 24, 1935 in Alamance County to the late Joseph Alan and Edna Yorke Okey (Paschal).
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, James Leo Tutterow.
Among those who cherish her memory are her beloved children: Steve and Toni Tutterow, Ed and Lucy Higuera; eleven grandchildren: D. Joseph Tutterow, M. Jonathan Tutterow, Ashley and Rich Bartho, Rachel Higuera, E. Holton Higuera, Emily Higuera, John Higuera, David Higuera, Virginia Higuera, Maggie Higuera, Amy Higuera; two great-grandchildren: Austin James and Kristen Bartho; three siblings: Eugenia Okey, Josephine Phillips, Joe Okey; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lou, a faith-filled woman of God, was blessed to lead a full life as a consummate wife, mother, and homemaker. She raised her children and served her family in eight states as she supported her husband's career through many moves. She, too, worked professionally as an office manager in Indianapolis and for Gillette in Dallas, Texas. Mid-life the Lord saved her and she spent the following years drawing ever closer to Him actively ministering in the work of the church at home and abroad. As her own mother's health declined, she, joined by her husband, devoted the next fifteen years to lovingly caring for her parents. In her later years, as a widow, Lou suffered from Alzheimer's and was cared for by her children.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a memorial contribution to Pleasant View Assembly of God Church, 10792 Cherry Grove Rd, Reidsville, NC 27320.
