Mary McCubbins Evans

Pelham: Mary McCubbins Evans, 69, of 251 Wonder Club Rd., went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 30, 2017, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Monday, July 3, 2017, at Happy Home Congregational Christian Church with Dr. J. Haywood Alcorn officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Mary was born on May 18, 1948, in Rockingham County, to the late Samuel Carr McCubbins and Edna Patterson McCubbins. She was a Christian and knew the words of the Lord. She was a loving mother and wife to her husband David for 53 years. She worked as a beautician in the Danville area for 47 years and touched a lot of people’s lives. She always had a smile and a sympathetic ear, both will be missed. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Barber and her brother, Sammy “Mack” McCubbins. Survivors include her husband, David Evans; her son, Dave Evans; her sister, Carolyn Turner; special niece, Deborah Hoskins and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be from 3-5 P.M., Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Happy Home Congregational Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Willis Memorial Baptist Church, 5212 Cascade Rd., Cascade, VA 24069.
