Mary Elizabeth Nance McGee

Reidsville: Mary Elizabeth Nance McGee, 90, of Reidsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Beacon Place. A native of Caswell County, she spent most of her life in the Benaja and Monticello communities of Browns Summit. She was the eldest of nine children born to Eithel Aaron and Martha Layne Nance. She was married to the late Curtis Dillard McGee, Sr. Mrs. McGee was a homemaker, farmer, and co-owner of McGee’s Grocery. She enjoyed cooking, people, a good laugh, bus trips and her family. She was a member of McLeansville Baptist Church. Survivors included; daughters, Carol M. Chrismon and husband, Garrett of Browns Summit and Sarah Elizabeth McGee of Dallas, NC; sons, C.D. McGee and wife, Frances of Germanton and Alfred McGee and wife, Pat of Reidsville; sisters, Allene Simpson Kallam of Browns Summit, Alma N. Clark and husband, Bill of Reidsville and Sue N. Gunn of Augusta, GA; brothers, Rev. Jack T. Nance and wife, Vera of Winston-Salem, Maynard Nance and wife, Marie of Ruffin and Paul Nance and wife, Frances, of Gibsonville; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, October 7, 2013 at McLeansville Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Lemons and Rev. Nila Souther officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday and the burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will also receive friends other times at her residence. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Blumenthal’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Beacon Place for their loving care of our mother. Memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Place, 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
