Mary Moore Poindexter Chapman

Ruffin- Mary Moore Poindexter Chapman, 85, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at Annie Penn Hospital.Visitation will be held 7-8 PM Thursday, July 2, 2009 followed by the funeral service at 8:00 PM at Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church in Ruffin, NC with Rev. Mike Tillman officiating. A visitation will also be held 7-8:30 PM Friday, July 3rd at Brooks Funeral Home in South Boston, VA. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 4th at Brooks Funeral Home with interment to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Boston, VA. Mrs. Chapman was born in Halifax County, VA to the late John Henry and Avy Earnest Bray Moore. She was a retiree of Dan River Mills and a member of Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Lee Poindexter and Archie B. Chapman; brothers, Henry L. Moore and Joe Lee Moore; sisters, Mattie Sue Scigla, Pauline Loftis Dodgen and Fannie Bet Boyd; two nephews and three nieces.Survivors include her sisters, Edna Hite Parker and Louise Moore Pool Barbour; eleven nephews; seven nieces; numerous great nephews and nieces; numerous great-great nephews and nieces.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, North Carolina 27407 or Gideon’s, c/o Sidney Lafon, 1635 Pecan Road, Reidsville, North Carolina 27320.
