Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Matthews Scott

Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Matthews Scott, 96, went home to be with The Lord, Monday, January 30, 2023, at Brookdale of Reidsville surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 3, 2023 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Dr. Travis McGuirt officiating. The burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lib was born in Rockingham County to the late Grady and Ruby Matthews. She retired from the American Tobacco Company with over 40 years of service. Richard and Lib attended Osborne Baptist Church earlier in their lives and after moving to Wentworth, they found their church home at Calvary Baptist Church. Lib adored her family, and it was obvious that “Love was the Key” to her life. Along with her parents, Lib was also preceded in death by her husband Richard Scott; her grandsons Mike Scott and Tyler Scott; brother Charles Pulliam and George Matthews.

Lib is survived by her son Jim Scott and wife Rachel; great grandchildren, Jake Scott, Kamryn Scott, Aubree Scott and Vaden Scott; granddaughters-in-law, Nicole Bennett Scott and Amber Parrish Scott; sister, Ann Matthews Cook; and extended family.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Geraldine Webster and to the Brookdale team for their faithful love and compassionate care for Mom.
