Mary Southard Southard

Pelham: Mary Jane Southard Southard, passed away on April 18, 2014 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Monday, April 21st at 2:00 PM at Lively Stones Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Kent officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She was born in Rockingham County to the late Hugh William Southard and Lillie Ethel Rakes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Southard; brothers, Leonard, Albert and John Southard; step son, Barry Southard. Mary was a loving mother and wonderful grandmother. She loved flowers and was an avid reader and crocheted many blankets for her granddaughters. She was retired from Chase Bag Company and a faithful member of Lively Stones Baptist Church. Mary was a very giving and strong person and was a cancer survivor. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Southard and wife Rosemary, Larry B. Southard and wife Linda and Roger Southard; daughter, Ethel S. Mitchell; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Southard, Bill Southard and Joseph "Joe" Southard; sisters, Myrtle Kernodle and Donna Byrd. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from six until eight o’clock at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville and other times at the family home. Memorials may be made to Lively Stones Baptist Church ,2347 Chandler Mill Rd. Pelham, NC 27311.
