Maurice "Elcanie" Roberts

Reidsville:   Maurice “Elcanie Roberts, 86, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at Annie Penn Hospital.   Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6th, at Community Baptist Church.   Interment will follow in Fairview Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Roberts was born in Rockingham County to the late Martin Elcanie and Jettie Taylor Roberts.   He lived his entire life in Reidsville where he was a faithful member and servant of the Community Baptist Church.   He was employed at American Tobacco Company.   Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carilee Griffin Roberts; brothers, Martin, Gordon and Burke; sisters, Eva R; Phillips, Beulah R. Shumate and Jewel R. Jefferson. He is survived by several loving nieces and nephews and special friend, Mary Comer. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral and other times at the residence at 511 Triangle Road, Reidsville, NC.
