Reidsville: Maxie Moore Ferris, 77, of 226 Ferris Lane, Reidsville, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 30 at 11:00 am at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens. A native of Rockingham County, she was a daughter of the late Fleming and Mary Ione McCollum Moore. For 40 years, she and her late husband, Curtis Ferris, operated a tire business from their home in Reidsville. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother of Christian faith who enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis L. Ferris, Sr.; her son, Victor Ferris; brothers, Alvin Moore, William Moore and Cleo Moore; sisters, Mary M. Clayton, Rita Vernon Smith, Mabel M. Scoggins and Ava M. Hord. She is survived by her daughter Donna Daniels and husband David, Reidsville; son, Curtis (Lee) Ferris, Jr., Reidsville; grandchildren, Melissa D. Motley and husband Keith, Danville, VA; Melanie D. Moreschi and husband Monte, Burlington; Amy F. Jones and husband Dubbie, Reidsville; Kevin Ferris, New Orleans, LA; and Katie Ferris, Reidsville; great-grandchildren: Alyssa Arthur, Jackson Jones, Darby Moreschi, Tanner Thornton and Devin Motley; brother, Ben Moore and wife Ruth, Reidsville; sisters: Dorothy M. Scales, Greensboro; Leola M. Clayton and husband George of Summerfield; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. The Reverend Bland Leebrick, Jr., will officiate the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Chuck Clayton, Wenard Jones, Larry Lewis, Monte Moreschi, Keith Motley and Ryan Smith. The family will visit with friends from 6 - 8 pm, Thursday, July 29 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence at 226 Ferris Lane, Reidsville. Special thanks to Dr. Scott Nadel, Dr. Eric Neijstrom, Dr. Thomas Wall and Hospice of Rockingham County for all the care they have provided.
